Movie Season

Crit Storyboards

2*
This one again is more a focus on a feature that could run through the 5 idents. Inspired by an existing ident for comedy Central, where the logo for the channel flickered(animated) throughout the ident, so thats what iv taken to my logo design.

Crit storyboards

1*
My first storyboard is a simple design of taking my logo and making it the central focus, twirling it around. Something not to use on its own but possibly as a part/beginning to an ident.

Type

To start designing my assets for the idents i wanted to have a go at illustrating type myself, i think what i produced was ok, but im a very fickle drawer, parts of it i like then il go and ruin it, and i feel time is a big factor so i may not pursue this any further.

So after this i went onto me Mac and typed out some of the quotes i plan to use, playing around with composition and colours.

I think some look good, and others not so good! The 'bear' quote works well with the imagery, however this style of image may not work with some of the other quotes.
But yeah these are something to start developing my work and designs for the idents with!

Schematic

The images below were designs i made for the first DVD Studio Pro workshop where we had to create a background/display for our main menu... Keeping a similar appearance to my silent videos and my idents, however after planning a schematic i now need to re-design this to have a 3rd button to choose, 'contacts'.

This is my first illustrated schematic. It got quite confusing at parts but i think this will be my permanent structure.

This is an explanation of the detail within the schematic, basically the screen and the interactive buttons on that screen!

Movie Season

Design Development

Some further work with my character logos,

4 Character's, Jackie Moon, Ron Burgundy, Chazz Michael Michaels, Brennan Huff/Dale Dolback

Taking the character designs, combining to make one logo which would be in all the idents.

Finally coming to this design, taking the first combined designs i found trying to position it in a 'screen' with other text (what will be featured in my idents). From working on them i found the circular shape of the ident wasn't working very well, so i went back to it and made it more accessible to use within my idents.

Type Session. ONE

This is my answer to the first assignment, study a typeface, describing key factors and what not. I chose to do Helvetica. Granted its everywhere in the world, from film posters to music artwork but this is for a reason. It's bladdy' beautiful!
One of the main factors i wanted to showcase within Helvetica was the horizontal tails of the letters and the capital 'R'. It is this r that is for me the most unique part of the typeface, that cheeky little tail. FIT!

Movie season

My first bit of design work for this brief has taken the shape of creating mini logo type designs for some of the films i have chosen to look at. Furthermore taking the lead role (Will Ferrell) as the main part of this design.

From some of my research into existing idents and what not i found a particular one for Comedy Central. In which the logo for the channel kind of came flying about on screen, then stayed fixed in bottom left corner with parts of the design flickering on and off. This i quite liked and thought could be something applicable and easily made with my low end skills in AfterEffects. So i came up with the idea of designing some form of logo for some of the films i am choosing, which may end up as seperate ones so that my idents are for a particular film within the movie season, or combine a few of the designs to one main one which will be in all idents.
