Final boards for this brief. Four boards in total, as there was only really one product, one range and one context! Nice and simple brief.

Range
The way I went about doing the design and how there shall be 5 releases (one a month) I made the decision to keep the front design the same throughout, only change the colour and obviously having the countdown change. So I bashed out a few colour ideas...

So I think instead Il just be using nice, bright'ish attracting colours.
Final choice
Made a decision on the countdown design. Keeping direct information at bay, keeping in sync with the general concept of the brief. Having it as a secret thing.
So the countdown here, showing days, hours and minutes, which represents the time till Snowbombing, Also having the search slogan from the front.
I wanted to keep the back quite bare, so to have the front being busy and n your face yet the back is a different kind of attracting, with only the one thing really there, draws people in a different way. If both sides were crazy busy I don't think it would be as effective as this.

Development
Coverwrap Development
The idea is to take the different typeface resolutions of the same quote and create a nice big collage of type. There are a lot of examples of them in the design world, some being on my context blog, but when done well they look sick. So this is the process I went through to create one of my own...

I was going to need something more then type in the composition, some extra bits of design to seperate all the type and create some form of sections within the piece.
After looking at some different forms of imagery, note the Nitro circus type. I came up with the following...

Adding more type variations of the quote, doing my best to keep the layout and comp of the quote varied and not repeated at all if possible.
Adding more extra bits, stars, circles, lines, dash marks etc! Looking pretty good if i don't say so myself.
And the final design for the type bit!
Adding the context of the concept, search for, Musical, mythical without equal.
Was then given some interesting advice of try and re make the Metro title to fit in with the rest of the design, so...
I tried it like this,
I'm not sure about it, I don't necessarily think it's much better or worse? Im not too sure, I think if i keep the original Metro title, the assurance of the audience knowing its the Metro, more people are likely to pick it up and read it as the trust is there.

Fancy shots of the design...

Thats the front done. Now for the back I was just going to have it blank, but I've been thinking of having some form of countdown. As these will be released during the first week of each month up until April I could have each one slowly getting closer to the date, next job: design a countdown.

Finally got back round to working on this other Snowbombing based promotional campaign. Series of coverwraps for the Metro, sponsor of the festival. Instead of having the logo or any mention of the word Snowbombing it will be a search / viral campaign, using the festivals slogan, Musical, Mythical, without equal.
Typo based designs, lets go!
(insert brainstorm page)
I had basically two different ideas for the campaign...
Firstly taking reviews and quotes from critics / magazines / DJ's etc, typographically showcasing these, then having search...musical, mythical, without equal as a secondary thing. This idea I had in mind to either keep in the same style as the publication, or changing it drastically, making it more eye grabbing and more busy.
The second idea was to have 'search, musical, mythical, without equal' as the main focus, using type to get this across.
I chose to start with the latter idea thinking it had more potential...
Playing with a few ideas...

There was something I liked about these designs, think the simplicity of it. and I like those circus themed typefaces, very decorative I know, but when used well, they pay off dividends. Saying this, it really needed more, the title of the Metro, (Which I recreated) grabs the eye so much more than the type, something I need to work around. Tried a few different typefaces...

Again some quite nice examples of type, but again its not enough, I don't feel so anyway.
Then I got banging idea, remember some work I've seen recently and been meaning to put on my context, watch out for that, I explain the idea shortly.
