Final Boards

Final boards for the brief. Eight in all, felt I needed a board for each snowboard, alongside the range within each of them. Then two context boards. This being to me the simplest and most effective means of showcasing the amount of work I did fr this project. Really happy with the outcome of this brief, a few problems and a few things that I have learnt along the way, this mostly being due to me doing everything the hard way.

Board Photography

Needed to spend some time photographing my work for the brief so that i could get the boards designed and ready to print.
My thinking was that my product boards will focus on the actual snowboard design yet showing the range of designs that comes with each illustration / board.
With this in mind I felt it best to try and photograph the sticker set along with the label...

Some of these photos are quite strong, but others are borderline ,too much of a nice / pretty picture, not showing what the product actually is. But there are some I reckon I will use on the boards, nice angles!

Contexts

To show the boards in some form of context I've chosen the k2 website, using the template for how they showcase their products / boards. Also gives a good idea of what they would look like on an online shop.
So below showing them firstly as a overview of all the boards, then a specific page to one board, giving details, and also showing the range (sizes).

The second context I wanted to show was a little harder to portray. I wanted to show how my range fits all together in a shop, specifically the label on the snowboard. Having the 5 boards with the labels on all of them and having the in-store promo posters hanging around. I admit not the greatest piece of work but it gets the point across, showing what it would essentially be.

Printed Products / Stickers

Sticker set and packaging for...
Found it quite difficult to photograph with the right light as the plastic pocket just reflected everything. However without wasting a lot of time I think these are ok...

Shows the stickers and packaging in a simple and non showy, pretentious manner.

Printed Products / Labels

Finally got round to printing the labels off, unfortunately due to time, busy dungeon and cost I ended up just printing them onto paper instead of sticker paper, then mounting them to thin card to make them sturdy.
They did however come out really well I feel, even though they just came out of a standard printer the colour on them was till bright and the quality looked pretty good, so I was more than happy with them.
Had a cheeky photographing session with them, these being the better shots taken of just the labels.
Singularly...

And together...

Nice.

Printed Products / Posters

To save money I only printed 2 of the 4 posters, I did however have the chocolate & wine one already made up so that left me with 3 printed. For the other two and more specifically the boards I shall photoshop the designs onto a blank bit of sugar paper, see last photo...

Think the prints were a success, happy with them.

Label Packaging / Tags

Final set of tags for the snowboards. Think the colour schemes work really well, strong and bright. They also fit in together well in terms of colour, not one tag sticks out more than the others. These will be made in the format of stickers, which in the context of a shop / buying a board, will be stuck onto the base of the board. Giving the audience all the necessary information and backstory behind the designs.

Sticker Packaging

From designing the sticker set I suddenly thought of how I was going to hand them in and it hit me that I should really have some kind of package for them.
So with that in mind i went away and quickly bashed out this design, not sure if I will have it in colour or black & white yet, need to see how it prints.
The format of the packaging will be this design onto card, folded over a plastic pocket with the stickers in, then stapled.

Stickers

One of my stated deliverables is a sticker set as part of the range and what not. so taking all the designed assets I sized them down and threw them together to get this collection...
I intend to print them onto white vinyl, this being due to a few reasons. Firstly the colour shows much better on white and colour I believe are an important factor of the designs. Furthermore as I found earlier on in the year when printing onto the clear vinyl the design actually fades quite quickly and when put onto the context of a snowboard is hard to actually see. This being quite important as snowboards will be one of the main products to place these stickers on, considering the audience targeted.

Label Packaging / Tags

Moving onto designing the other tags / sticker packaging for the boards. Found some trouble with the first design, keeping it in accordance with the chocolate & wine design. This meant trying to find a compromise, getting a design that worked for all of the different tags, as to create a strong visual set.
This was the process of design...
Firstly using the illustration design and the logo.

After a fair while I realised that I just wasn't happy with any of the tag designs. I liked the type and the use of the sizes and essentially the layout and the format of it, it was using the illustration that I found was the problem. so I decided to sack it off and try it without.

This turned out much better i felt, So this was to be the final layout and design for the tags / labels. Now to take it to the other designs.
