Something a bit different, i figured that for my dvd the main menu wont be specific to the briefs, the options i will have on the first screen will be OUGD202 and contact, so it can be in any style i feel!
I had a go at some hand drawn type i like creating...
I really like the aesthetics of it however i dont think it is really clear to read, which is the opposite of what im going for within the DVD and also the movie season brief. So i might just use it for my blog!
Here just playing around with the transition from quote to logo, main focus on being a smooth move, that doesn't happen to quickly nor to slowly.
The only problem is moving these two the final idents as some quotes take up a lot of the time and doesn't leave alot for the title to come onto screen
One of the points that came up was one of the endings in my idents wasn't very good basically however one specific one was good! So i studied the different motions in each one and changed the worse one...
I think the ending is much better now, smooth clean transition.
Here using the light effect and a stroke on the type, i think it could be really effective either using it for all of the quote or again just to emphasize certain parts and words.
This is another point that was suggested for me to do, something that hadnt even crossed my mind, using strokes. I think this could be a really useful way to emphasize either the whole quotes or just parts of it, possibly in accordance with the sound levels of the shouting.
Here playing with the use of light to create bit more texture and depth to the composition, i think it works really well and i have been trying to find out how to do it for a while and finally found it! So this effect will be in all the final idents.
Responding to another point that was made in the crits, that the colour scheme i had chosen to use in my idents didn't represent the work shown on my blog. I had explained in one post that i had analyzed numerous posters, dvd artwork for the films and chose a colour scheme from the colours that was used the most - White text being used in all of them.
However the point did cause some concern, so i went back to one of my made animations and changed the colour scheme to fit each separate film.
This is for Talladega Nights, taking the colours from posters. I dont like it and i feel the colours just dont really go together.
This is for StepBrothers, now for this the posters only contained 2 colours, red and white, and i think it is because its only 2 colours why it doesn't work in the
video.
This one is for Semi Pro and i actually quite like it, unusual colours to see together. I would happily use this scheme for the final ident.
The last one for Blades of Glory, i also really like this one, its fairly similar to the original so yeah!
So what i have here is three successful colour schemes (including one used in idents) and two that i feel dont work very well.
I dont think i could use all three colour shcemes as one colour wouldnt only be used once and i think they either need to be all the same or split evenly. Do i choose one colour or just stick with the one, For the moment i will stick with the one and see if i can improve the idents anymore with upcoming experimentation.
