With my logo designs being fairly strong my next steps is to move forward and apply the logo / s to various forms of media and applications. First thoughts are the obvious, CD's vinyls and their covers. t-shirts and general merchandise however I have the idea of creating another product from one of the ranges from the logo / original product! This being a bi-monthly calender ( the range of the product) which will be colour co-oridnated with either the months or possibly seasons.
To try and clarify,

I plan at this moment in time to just propose the general merchandise, mocking them up on the ol' laptop, however time permitting i shall try and produce 1 or 2 examples, get them printed and that. So the calender...
Brainstorm!
Writing down general gist of the calendar, the size of it, the print processes, format, folding issues, the detail and design of it! What will it actually be! How do i organise it?
My thoughts for it at the moment:
Size:
I want it to be big, however it will be distributed via flyering so it cant be inappropriately large! So need to consider folding it, how will it fold, what do i want them to first see / read?
But yeah size, im thinking A1 split into 2 or 3. This saving on cost by getting 2/3 calendars out of one print but still being a rather large size.
Colour:
The range of this product will be based mostly on colour / monthly releases. I will choose a colour that best portrays that month, for example the cold months will be blues / purples/ greens and hot months would be yellow orange and reds! See context for existing examples. I intend to either have each month have its own colour or group them via the seasons, so December, January & February would be one season, then the following 3 for spring, the next 3 for summer the next 3 for autumn. Simple. But which one right now i am not sure! I shall make a more informed decision after designing and that.
Print Process:
Im in two minds for printing, firstly i would quite like to screenprint them, think that a two tone print could work nicely, pretty stylish plus keeps costs down. More for your money and that.
Then there's digital printing, bit easier for duplex printing, which i will need to do, if i do choose digital print i would most likely just use two inks or just one plus a stock paper. Maybe the paper being the colour representing the month? but yeah this will keep the costs to a minimum, something quite important i feel, firstly to the company, as the product will be free they wouldnt want to spend loads on it! Furthermore i aint made of money.
Design & Detail:
Concerning design i think i want to keep it fairly simple quite clean, bold, nothing too busy! Want it too look friendly and be made to look as though its for music, so gathering inspiration and design ideas from existing music / club night promotion posters and flyers.
The detail of the calendar and the function for it is to inform the audience of any tour dates for the artists and any EP / Album releases, I'm not overly fussed about the calendar being able to be drawn / written on that could be a cheeky bonus. There will also be some detail of where to go for tickets / more information most likely in the form of website addresses.
Folds and that:
The problem of the fold will be solved via experimenting with mock ups, playing around with the format of the calendar, which way it folds, how people could or would open it, what comes first, hierarchy and all that!
