Logitech Z 5500, final argument

My final arguments i put forward within my presentation were as follows,

. The main reason for my logitech z5500 being good is that is provides crisp and clear sounds at a very high level.
Musics much better loud, however common systems are prone to lose quality in sound when they are pushed to the maximum noise level. With this system this is a not a problem. and it is incredibly loud!

. Aesthetically pleasing, i feel it is a good looking product, and with removable covers it gives the consumer choice on how they want it too look! Giving the people freedom, and people love freedom!

. Negative to Positive!
My next phase of the argument is to look at the the negatives and bad things about the system, then to flip reverse it so it is a positive!
-Its expensive!
money=quality, you get what you pay for! Cant truly get a decent product for cheap these days.

-Its heavy and bulky!
Makes it harder to steal.

-Lots of wires!
This gives freedom with where to place the speakers and what not.

.My next argument was to look at what other people had said and how they had rated it! Focusing mainly on Amazon, Found that the average rating was 4 and a 1/2 stars out of 5!

My last point was merely that i liked it! and so should you!

What is good? Presentation

I broke myself. boohoo.
So now im best mates with a pair of crutches for 6 weeks. Anywho i was unable to present so heres my presentation without the fancy noise and actions!

Logitech Z 5500

After some research i found out what all the technical jargon means, and why it makes my sound system 'good'!

So,
. Total FTC power: 505 Watts RMS

Firstly Watts-Power measurement, current x voltage= wattage
Used to quantify an amplifiers power output.

RMS- an amplifier measurement, conventional way to measure the average value of an audio signal

Watts RMS- the amount of continuous power that an amplifier can produce. Therefore the higher the number the louder and cleaner the music sounds. 505 watts is high! and shows that it is a very loud system and from comparison with other 5.1 surround sound systems it is the highest wattage in its market. Therefore it is most likely to be the loudest.

. Total Peak Power: 1010 Watts

This is the maximum wattage an amplifier can produce as a brief burst during a musical peak. So again the higher the better, and 1010 watts is very high for a home based sound system.

.SPL: >115dB

Sound pressure level, a measurement of the loudness of a sound. Measured in decibels, dB, the scale goes from 0-140dB.
140dB is deemed dangerous and can cause permanent ear damage.
So 115dB is at the top end of the scale and proves that the system is pretty gosh darn loud.
and loud is good!

What is good? Logitech Z 5500

Oh hi there speakers!
This is my recently new baby, my 5.1 logitech Z 5500.
Its awesome in every sense of the word!
Why is it good? well it produces very loud sound levels at a high quality, crisp and clear and the subwoofer is big and produces loud and epic bass. Ooomph!

What is good? Ride DH

This is my pride and joy, my baby!
I love it with all my heart! I dont think its just good. its excellent, near perfect!
Why is it so good?
Well it looks beautiful, to me anyway. It performs very well, light and bendy, yet responsive, keeps steady at high speeds, twin shaped, its an overall beauty, works everywhere everytime!
But not everyone can relate to these factors so it may end up to be hard to prove it is good.

What is Good?

What is good?
What a question, well to me good is something, someone, somewhere that brings pleasure, something that is the opposite to bad! and better than ok!

The first exercise i did was brainstorm things that i think are good!

. Sun . Laughter . snow . snowboarding . music . friends . Nelson Mandela . Free Health care . sofa's . will ferrell . food . kfc . subway . logitech z5500 . lager . nights out . raves . internet . mobile phones . boyband . graphic design . the sea . san diego . ron burgundy . free things . girls . life . nature . disneyworld . christmas

Obviously  i could go on forever on what i think is good!
But yeah i need to choose something to form an argument for why is it good, and prove it etc

I cut it down to two choices!

1. My snowboard- Ride DH
2. My sound system- Logitech Z 5500

Both have very valid good points! and both are very close to my heart!

Summer Postcards

Next postcard, a three colour word!
One nice thing i did during my summer was i went to Globalgathering, one of the worlds largest dance festivals!
It was truly beautiful! So i chose my word to be 'Global'.

Words to sum up Global:
. BIG    . MESSY   . DRUNK     . SUMMER   . LOUD  . MENTAL   . CRAZY   . SURREAL     . BIRTHDAY   . HOLIDAY    . EXPENSIVE   . MONEY    . SUN . TENTS   .BEER    . SLEEPLESS   . HOT

So i chose a typeface, Helvetica Neue again, this not only because i like it but more so because it is similar to the original word typeface and its easy to work with in terms of adding to etc

I first started by printing out the word global, looking at the words that described the weekend and trying to portray those words within the words, a few ideas being the 'o' was a sun, making one or two letters a bigger Pt size than the others, to represent the big-ness of the weekend! Overlaying the word to portray 'Messy'.
For the colour I wanted something bright and vibrant, representative of the 'rave' culture that dominates Globalgathering.

Summer Postcards

The next postcard i had to design was a 2 colour logo, again looking back upon my summer, i decided to make a logo for the restaurant/pub i worked at!

This is a business/tab card for The Boot in Lapworth, the fine establishment i have spent some 6 years at working!
I guess the logo for the establishment would be at the top of the business card, a simple two colour couple of words.
My general thinking for the logo was to have it be simplistic and the main focus point of it to be the words, The Boot in Lapworth.

The logo at the moment is a two colour number of words in Times typeface roughly in 14/16 Pt size.

My first step was to choose a typeface i could add and customize to, making a unique typeface for the logo!

Cheeky type experiment, just to see what kind of styles i could possibly use etc
As my thinking was to experiment with a chosen type, i decided to use the simplest out of the ones above, Helvetica Neue, Ultralight.

After working with several printouts, drawing over and adding to the type, i came out with this using illustrator,

The process i went through was going through each letter to see what i could do to it, referring to the typefaces English and Chopin script as the kind of style i wanted, but a little quieter in terms of swirly extended letters!
The next move was to play with colour, this time having a two colour palette.

I wanted a relatively neutral colour, something that suggests the countryside, and autumn, this being because the pub itself is a very cosy kind of place, log fires and the such! so i was looking at greens, browns and greys/blacks! The two colours then are the background colour and the pattern colour, the words in white will be the colour of the stock! The finished piece...

Summer Postcards

The next postcard was to design was a one colour pictogram portraying an activity. Again reflecting back onto my summer, all i did was work in a bar.
So trying to think of a simple image that could reflect working and also if possible working in a bar.
The first thing that came to my head was,

The sign for roadworks.

This is the only sign for 'work' i could think of that already exists! However this image alone is more road-works/traffic related.
WORD STORM:
working in a bar,
. Beer
. Alcohol
. Glasses
. Pouring Drinks
. Regulars
. Cleaning
. Bottles
. Wine
. Service

From this activity and thinking in this way i came to the conclusion that one of the main activities i did when working in the bar was pouring drinks.
So working in my sketchbook, drawing, then a few photocopies later, scanning then 'live-tracing' i had this,

Now i have these images to move on with, this step being colour.
Now i can only use one colour, so yeah

An array of colours of the joy! As i said i can only use one colour, but i dont like having just a white box, so i chose to have a solid colour for the pictogram and have that same colour as the background but with a low opacity.
Anyway the final one i chose was,

Summer Postcards

The first postcard I have to create is a full colour photograph or illustration.
From looking through my collected photographs one that stuck out was an image of my couch at home, as it appeared that my summer consisted of a few things, working, drinking, working and sitting on my couch after work!

But the actual photo is quite boring and is not something that id want to use.
After bashing a few ideas around in my sketchbook and not getting anywhere i looked through an Ikea catalogue and collected images of couches from it.

I liked the composition of these images i was collecting, having a simple image of a lounge and also a mixture of black, white and colour text. So i thought id create something like this!

My mind set was to show my kind of lifestyle compared to the clean, stylish lives that were being shown and sold in the Ikea magazine, thankfully my new lounge in leeds was already in a state so i took a load of photos from numerous angles focusing in on the couch including the the mess of the room!

Finally chose this photograph, as it included the majority of the mess on the table, the couch, another couch and leaves an appropriate space in the bottom left hand corner for my text!

My next move was to decide on what text to have, the ones from the magazine were, 'Plan your home around THE WAY YOU LIVE home is the most important place in the world' and then there were descriptions and the price of items in the room, 'Karlstad 3-seat sofa with long cover Blekinge white'.
As i was showing my lounge and essentially my lifestyle, i chose to include the text, 'Plan your home around THE WAY I LIVE' and also show the price for the beer on the table, '24-Pack Carling £18.00'

This was my final outcome, using the same principles as the Ikea catalogue, white text in an open area, i think its worked well for essentially something that is just mocking Ikea and its full colour so it bides by the rules, win.
