This is a business/tab card for The Boot in Lapworth, the fine establishment i have spent some 6 years at working!
I guess the logo for the establishment would be at the top of the business card, a simple two colour couple of words.
My general thinking for the logo was to have it be simplistic and the main focus point of it to be the words, The Boot in Lapworth.
The logo at the moment is a two colour number of words in Times typeface roughly in 14/16 Pt size.
My first step was to choose a typeface i could add and customize to, making a unique typeface for the logo!
Cheeky type experiment, just to see what kind of styles i could possibly use etc
As my thinking was to experiment with a chosen type, i decided to use the simplest out of the ones above, Helvetica Neue, Ultralight.
After working with several printouts, drawing over and adding to the type, i came out with this using illustrator,
The process i went through was going through each letter to see what i could do to it, referring to the typefaces English and Chopin script as the kind of style i wanted, but a little quieter in terms of swirly extended letters!
The next move was to play with colour, this time having a two colour palette.
I wanted a relatively neutral colour, something that suggests the countryside, and autumn, this being because the pub itself is a very cosy kind of place, log fires and the such! so i was looking at greens, browns and greys/blacks! The two colours then are the background colour and the pattern colour, the words in white will be the colour of the stock! The finished piece...
