Logitech Z 5500

After some research i found out what all the technical jargon means, and why it makes my sound system 'good'!

So,
. Total FTC power: 505 Watts RMS

Firstly Watts-Power measurement, current x voltage= wattage
Used to quantify an amplifiers power output.

RMS- an amplifier measurement, conventional way to measure the average value of an audio signal

Watts RMS- the amount of continuous power that an amplifier can produce. Therefore the higher the number the louder and cleaner the music sounds. 505 watts is high! and shows that it is a very loud system and from comparison with other 5.1 surround sound systems it is the highest wattage in its market. Therefore it is most likely to be the loudest.

. Total Peak Power: 1010 Watts

This is the maximum wattage an amplifier can produce as a brief burst during a musical peak. So again the higher the better, and 1010 watts is very high for a home based sound system.

.SPL: >115dB

Sound pressure level, a measurement of the loudness of a sound. Measured in decibels, dB, the scale goes from 0-140dB.
140dB is deemed dangerous and can cause permanent ear damage.
So 115dB is at the top end of the scale and proves that the system is pretty gosh darn loud.
and loud is good!
