Artists:
Unkle Filth, the big boy himself. This is the main client as he is the one starting the label.
As a DJ he plays a range of music from Drum & Bass, Electro, Fidget, Dubstep and dub. Spanning most sub-genres within bass driven music.
Came up with a few different solutions for his logo...
First playing with single letters, messing about. Looked through my context blog again to find this image of the kind of style I was thinking for the logo.
Played around with that idea for a bit;
Came to this as a mock up of the typeface, few problems with it. I was in two minds whether to keep the type fixed width or not, I like the K but it creates too much white space within the word, the E needs work, think I'd need to re-assess each letter to be honest. Possibility to make a custom typeface an' all.
From here went to the ol' Mac.
Few experiments with type
Thought Id try and make the logo quite light-hearted, almost child / toy like. Bit different like considering the name filth. Instead of having a dirty, grungy logo, what might be seen as the obvious go for something shiny and toy like.
I like the impact of having it on a black background, fitted around the type, these being a quick pen tool job, but as seen below this image, Ive drawn a better version that I shall add to the type.
Next idea, got to love condensed typefaces.
Bashing out general ideas and styles of layout, the relationship between the words.
The typeface is Century Gothic.
Making some simple but important decisions, upper or lower-case, one line or two, fixed width or not.
Remembered the other day that he's just got a tattoo, pretty sick its an ambigram, now I dont really know how to make Unkle Filth into one of them but I can play around with that general idea...
Another quick idea for the logo using Helvetica. Im always probably going to design a solution for any brief using Helvetica. Just looks good like.
